Even those who died of COVID-19 received their immunity certificate

According to the government, the results of their new national consultation will decide what rights people with an immunity certificate will get. Interestingly, the authorities sent these immunity certificates with many mistakes, provoking public outcry in Hungary.

According to Népszava, people have started to receive their immunity certificates, but many found significant errors. Based on the regulations, everybody who received the vaccine gets a plastic card, regardless of the type or whether they already got the infection.

Officially, in the case of people who are inoculated, there is no deadline on the card. Meanwhile, those who were infected receive the certificate for six months. Those who can prove that they have antibodies can receive a certificate valid for four months.  

However, the reality is a bit different, according to the information of Népszava and RTL Klub. A man, requesting his identity not to be revealed, said that his father died on March 1 but received his immunity certificate on March 17. He added that getting such a letter two weeks after his father’s death was

not only insulting but also baffling.

Others said that the deadline written on their certificate did not match the official announcements. A woman said that she received the vaccine on March 8, but the deadline for her certificate is May 13, which is less than three months, even though it should be infinite. She added that the same happened with her husband, who received his jab on March 7, but his card is also valid only until May 13.

RTL Klub said that a family of five got the infection all at once, but their cards have different deadlines. The mother received a certificate valid for nine months while one of her sons got a card that can be used for only six months. Moreover, they received only four certificates. Meanwhile,

a citizen got two cards instead of one because he received a second jab three months after the first.

Ákos Hadházy, one of the independent MPs of the parliament, uploaded to his Facebook page on Tuesday an immunity certificate received by an underage person who could not get a vaccine and has never had a positive COVID-19 test result. He said that he had a teammate who produced a positive PCR-test, but the team did not stop training, and nobody went into quarantine.

The operative body did not reply to the questions of RTL Klub. Nor did the government information centre, but they added that the

people would decide in the framework of the national consultation what rights should be attached to the immunity certificates.
